Summary: | December 14, 1877 letter to Lt. Commander Charles D. Sigsbee, Commander of the "Blake", informing him that on the date of the letter six specimen cylinders were being shipped via the Light House Steamer "Dandelion" for use in the Coast Survey. The items were delivered in the name of Lt. E. B. Thomas. Much of the lettering is very faded, some to the point of illegibility, but most of the letter can be discerned from context. The paper is frail, thin to the point of transparency, and has been eaten away at some points by rust due to the iron based ink used. The page number of the ledger this letter was copied into appears on the upper right. Parts of another letter are clearly visible through the paper. | |
