Abstract/Description

Writing somewhere in the Pacific Theater to his wife, Eloise, in Gulf Breeze, Florida, Mark X Benson notes receiving nine letters from her, that frequent blackouts interfere with both work and leisure time, guesses that the war in the Pacific could end sooner than Europe, that the Gulf Breeze Post Office must keep her busy, and the weather has been bad for them and the Japs too.

Abstract/Description
-
Like most letters from the Pacific Theater, Mark can say little about where he is or what kind of action is going on. He tells Eloise, his wife, about letters he has received, folks he has been writing to, the huge amount of mail they are sending back to San Francisco (hub for soldier mail distribution) tied in tin bands, and asks Eloise how the 1889 clock is doing.
