View of NAS Pensacola looking west down South Avenue taken from the Observation Tower on October 8, 1918. In the lower left is Seaplane Hangar 71. At the far right, the long two story building is Building 1, the Ship Carpenter's Shop build int 1868. Directly in front of Building 1 is Building 30, a small boat storage shed; adjacent to this is a small, one story, gable-roofed frame structure built in 1917-19118, Building 230. The Dark roofed building running perpendicular to Bldg's 1 and 30 is Building 105, a low-hip-roofed frame shop built in 1917-1918. Just west beyond Bldg 105 is Building 25, a storage building completed in 1868, converted to a seaman's barracks in 1907, then to a Marine barracks in 1927, and finally office space and storage in 1957. |
