The U.S. Steam Ship Tennessee arrived off shore on the 4th for an afternoon. Other tasks were conducted as usual such as switching out burners and whitewashing.

A Mr. Albert (last name partially illegible) was put on duty on December 4th.

An engineers party repaired the locks and window fastenings before moving on, the Miquanette (?) refilled the water at the Navy Yard before heading west, and the Laurel arrived with supplies on the 12th among other happenings.

Clifford caused a gear to snag in the beacon mechanism, was ready to resign two days later, and did not keep the journal for a week during Lawrence's absence from the station. On the 28th the lighthouse inspector arrived with William A. Bethel, noting he would take charge on Sunday the 30th. S. C. Lawrence resigned the same day. Bethel's first entry was a typo as he noted Sunday to be the 29th and Monday to be the 30th.
