Research shows that Joe White was a 32-year-old aviation machinist mate stationed at NAS Pensacola. He died on March 31, 1927.

Forrest contacted Hilburn's original group in Detroit about his status and received a reply that Hilburn was prone to getting angry and quitting the group, then asking to rejoin. The second time they refused his readmission. Michigan Grand Dragon recommended Hilburn not be allowed to join any Klan. The letter continues with an account of Frank Dent Sander's death and the fact that he became a Catholic on his deathbed. The letter concludes with the statement that the articles in the Pensacola newspaper "will bear out every statement made some time ago by the Fellowship Forum."
