Aerial photo looking east over the Pensacola lighthouse and NAS Pensacola taken around 1922. Structures are visible in the upper right of the photo. Construction on the lighthouse began in 1856 and it was first lit January 1, 1859. A first-order Fresnel lens was cut and polished by Henri LePaute of Paris, France and was installed and lighted by a single whale oil lamp. The lighthouse became automated in 1965 and the Keeper's Quarters now houses the Navy's Command Display Center which has exhibits pertaining to the history of the lighthouse and Naval Air Station.

Official Navy aerial photo showing a closeup of Pier 302 taken in December 1922. On the bay side of Pier 302 is the Seaplane Wrecking Derrick YSD-2, a.k.a. Mary Ann Boat. Across the wharf is the Fleet Tug USS Allegheny (AT-19). Across the pier are Eagle Class Patrol Craft PE-43 and PE-53.

The building is painted partially in the camouflage paint scheme used during World War I and a worker can be seen on the roof of the building. The back of the photo contains an official stamp of credit to the US Navy, a stamp which notes the many uses of the building over the years, a date of when the building was first built, and an archival summary which explores the context of the building in more depth.
