Aerial photo looking east over the Pensacola lighthouse and NAS Pensacola taken around 1922. Structures are visible in the upper right of the photo. Construction on the lighthouse began in 1856 and it was first lit January 1, 1859. A first-order Fresnel lens was cut and polished by Henri LePaute of Paris, France and was installed and lighted by a single whale oil lamp. Two blimps are visible in the photo, one at the left through the open door of the dirigible hangar and the other on the field towards the center right.
