Annual is labeled Vol. 26 but this may be the volume year for the newspaper. The Florida Sentinel was the first Negro newspaper in Florida, probably a weekly, and located in Gainesville (1887-1894?), Pensacola (1894?-1912?), and Jacksonville (1912? - ?).

The Florida Sentinel was the first Negro newspaper in Florida. Issues are rare but it is believed to have begun as a weekly newspaper in Gainesville, Florida (1887-1894?); moved to Pensacola (1894?-1912?), and then to Jacksonville (1912? - ?). This issue is an “annual” edition, the “10th annual” published in Pensacola in 1904.
