Photo of the Wet Basin at NAS Pensacola taken August 23, 1918. U.S. Navy Coal Barge 214 with an aircraft catapult is moored on the opposite side of the Basin.The largest of the three small buildings at the end of the Basin in front of the Coal Barge is Building 144, used to house engine test stands. The large building with arched windows is Building 38, a machine shop.

Tied up on the left entrance to the WeT Basin is US Navy Coal Barge 214, the Catapult Barge. At the lower right one can see the 125 foot seaplane observation tower. Camouflage paint was applied to buildings during World War I.

Directly in front of Building 1 is Building 30, a small boat storage shed; adjacent to this is a small, one story, gable-roofed frame structure built in 1917-19118, Building 230. The Dark roofed building running perpendicular to Bldg's 1 and 30 is Building 105, a low-hip-roofed frame shop built in 1917-1918. Just west beyond Bldg 105 is Building 25, a storage building completed in 1868, converted to a seaman's barracks in 1907, then to a Marine barracks in 1927, and finally office space and storage in 1957.

Photo taken mid-June 1916 showing the unfinished Hangar Barge One floating in the Wet Basin at NAS Pensacola. Building 45 is visible behind the frame. The frame and barge arrived on May 19, 1916 and the installation of the skin and curtain was completed in early October 1916. Dirigible DN-1 arrived in mid-December 1916.

In 1821, Spain ceded Florida to the U.S. and the Army Crops of Engineers redesigned, enlarged, and repaired the battery in 1839.

Aerial photo looking south over the Pensacola Lighthouse taken circa 1922. Construction on the lighthouse began in 1856 and it was first lit on January 1, 1859. A first-order Fresnel lens, cut and polished by Henri LePaute of Paris, France, was installed and lit by a single whale oil lamp. The lighthouse became automated in 1965 and the Keeper's Quarters now houses the Navy's Command Display Center which has exhibits pertaining to the history of the lighthouse and Naval Air Station.

Sketch done around 1880 of the Woolsey entrance (north end of East Street) which served as the main and guard gate to the Pensacola Navy Yard until 1932. Men can be seen posing in the sketch in front of the gates, one in a rather obvious manner.
